Venue guide · Wedding photography

Shangri-La at The Shard offers a London wedding where the view becomes part of the occasion. It is a strong choice for couples who want an intimate hotel celebration with a dramatic sense of the city around them.
A smaller gathering with an expansive outlook
The Ren, Li and Yi event spaces offer different scales, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking across London. The appeal is the contrast between a close gathering and the city beyond the glass. Hotel hospitality and accommodation can make the experience feel coherent from preparations through to the evening.
Making room for photographs
I would use the skyline selectively, then concentrate on faces, reactions and the room’s atmosphere. Strong window light can create contrast, so portrait positions should respond to conditions rather than always face the view. A short session near the windows can be enough to establish the location.
Before you book
Confirm the exact event room, guest layout and private access. Ask about reflections, additional lighting and any restrictions on photographic equipment. Give guests clear arrival and lift instructions, and allow enough time for everyone to reach the event floor comfortably.
