Venue guide · Wedding photography

Micklefield Hall offers a Hertfordshire wedding with a carefully varied collection of spaces. The Great Barn, garden settings and pond-side Temple make it particularly appealing if you want both a distinctive ceremony and a welcoming reception.
A clear progression from ceremony to celebration
The venue’s published wedding material brings together the Temple, Orangery, Rose Garden and lawns around the Great Barn. The strength is the opportunity to give each part of the day its own setting while keeping guests within one place. It can suit couples who like a country wedding with an organised, comfortable flow.
Making room for photographs
I would plan a small number of portraits around the spaces you are actually using, rather than visit every garden feature. A short pause near the pond or barn can provide enough variety. Keep a sheltered alternative ready so the photographs remain relaxed if the weather changes.
Before you book
Ask which ceremony option is appropriate for your date and guest count, and how the wet-weather plan works. Confirm preparation access, catering arrangements and the timing of the room transition. Check walking distances and surfaces for guests who may need assistance.
