Eltham Palace offers two very different kinds of grandeur within one London wedding setting. Its Art Deco interiors sit alongside a medieval Great Hall, making it especially appealing if you enjoy architecture with a story.
A striking contrast between eras
The circular entrance hall, domed roof and curved staircase create a distinctive twentieth-century setting. The Great Hall brings the height and timber structure of a much older building, while terraces and gardens soften the transition outside. A wedding here can move between moods without needing to change venue.
Making room for photographs
I would choose one or two architectural compositions that show this contrast, then keep the rest of the photographs centred on your interactions. Symmetry can work beautifully in a formal interior, but it need not dictate every picture. Confirm portrait access in advance so the session fits comfortably around the celebration.
Before you book
Ask which rooms are available for your ceremony and reception, how public opening affects access, and what photography restrictions apply. Include an indoor plan for groups and a clear route between spaces. Historic interiors reward careful planning more than an ambitious list of locations.
