Venue guide · Wedding photography

Hackney Town Hall offers a civic London ceremony with a choice of scale. For a smaller gathering, the Lanchester Suite’s green walls and wood panelling provide a personal setting within a landmark public building.
Choose the room before shaping the day
The town hall is not a single interchangeable wedding space. The ceremony room you choose determines the atmosphere, capacity and rhythm of the occasion. Its East London location makes it a useful starting point for a reception nearby, especially if you want the day to move from a formal ceremony into a more relaxed restaurant or warehouse celebration.
Making room for photographs
I would keep the ceremony photography sensitive to the room’s size and the registrar’s guidance. Afterwards, allow a compact window for family photographs and a few couple portraits before guests move on. A clear group list is particularly helpful when another ceremony may follow yours.
Before you book
Confirm the room’s current guest-count rules, including whether suppliers count towards capacity. Ask about arrival times, confetti and photography access. If you want one of the larger event spaces, check its separate hire arrangements rather than assuming the ceremony booking covers it.
