Elmore Court combines a historic Gloucestershire house with a very different reception setting. The contrast between the house and the contemporary Gillyflower makes it a strong choice for couples who want elegance at the start of the day and a proper party later.

Two moods within one celebration

The Great Hall and garden ceremony options establish the country-house atmosphere. The Gillyflower, built with rammed-earth walls and designed with sound in mind, then gives dinner and dancing a separate identity. This progression is the venue’s particular strength: the wedding can change pace while remaining within one estate.

Making room for photographs

I would use the house for a few composed portraits and allow the reception photography to become more energetic as the day develops. The transition between spaces is worth keeping in the story rather than treating it as dead time. A short outdoor pause can give you breathing room without missing the gathering.

Before you book

Ask how the ceremony choice affects the day’s timetable, and confirm the route between the house and reception in poor weather. Discuss lighting and music plans with the venue team. Make sure the spaces you want for preparations and portraits are included in your booking.
