London • Family photography • A practical guide
A little London adventure.
Photographs that feel like your family.
Your children holding hands beside the Thames. A shared laugh in front of a red phone box. Everyone together, with London in the background. A family photoshoot in London is a chance to step into the photographs yourself and remember this part of your family’s story.
I’m Adrian Mazur, a London photographer. Here is my guide to choosing a location, getting ready and making the most of your time together.

01 / FIND YOUR SETTING
Where to have your family photoshoot in London
Start with the atmosphere you love. Famous landmarks make a lovely reminder of a London holiday; a riverside walk gives you movement and changing backgrounds. If your family feels happiest among trees, a green setting may be the better choice.

THE CLASSIC LONDON PORTRAIT
Westminster & Big Ben
For a backdrop that immediately says London, Westminster is a beautiful starting point. Views across the Thames bring the Houses of Parliament into your photographs while keeping your family at the heart of the frame.
Choose a few nearby stopping points instead of a long sightseeing route. An earlier session can make popular viewpoints easier to enjoy.
Lovely for: first visits, holiday memories and recognisable London scenery.

RIVERSIDE VIEWS & BIG ARCHITECTURE
Tower Bridge & the Thames
The bridge’s towers and the open river make a striking setting for family portraits. Nearby viewpoints let us vary the background, with room for walking photographs as well as everyone together.
Westminster and Tower Bridge are in different areas. For a shorter shoot, pick your favourite and enjoy the surroundings. If you would love both, we can discuss extra time and transport.
Lovely for: a bold London backdrop and families who enjoy a riverside walk. Find Tower Bridge ↗
A LITTLE COLOUR & CHARACTER
Red phone boxes & London details
A red phone box adds a playful stop to a Westminster session. It works especially well as one small part of your gallery, alongside wider views and photographs of you simply being together.
We can keep this flexible if the pavement is busy. A laugh beside the box can be just as lovely as a carefully arranged pose.
Lovely for: colour, character and a familiar London detail.

The South Bank
River views, the London Eye and a sense of the city unfolding around you. A gentle walk gives children something to do and creates opportunities for photographs between the more familiar portraits.
Planning tip: keep the route short and the rest of the day relaxed. See the area ↗
A leafy London setting
If landmarks are less important to you, tell me about a favourite park or the part of London that feels like home. Greenery can give your photographs a quieter, more personal setting.
Planning tip: we’ll need to check the location’s photography permissions and any fees before settling on a park.
02 / CHOOSE YOUR MOMENT
Good light. Happy children. Time to breathe.
The best start time is one that works for your children as well as the location. Tell me about naps, meals and when they usually have the most energy.
Morning: often a good option for younger children and busy London landmarks. Leave a little breathing room for the journey so you arrive without rushing.
Late afternoon: lower sunlight can bring warmth and softer shadows. The right time changes with the season, and summer evening light may be too late for little ones.
Cloudy weather: an overcast sky can give beautifully soft light. If rain or cold is forecast, we can discuss the practical options before the day.

03 / KEEP IT COMFORTABLE
What to wear for your family photoshoot
Wear clothes you feel good in. You should be able to walk, sit down and pick up your children comfortably. There is no need for everyone to match or for a whole new wardrobe.
- Choose a shared palette. Two or three complementary colours bring the group together while letting everyone look like themselves.
- Keep patterns simple. Large logos and several competing prints can pull attention away from faces.
- Plan for London weather. Layers and comfortable shoes help. If coats will stay on, treat them as part of the outfits.
- Pack a small spare outfit. For little ones, a dry change after a spill or puddle can make all the difference.
Try the clothes together beforehand. If everyone can move and cuddle easily, you are on the right track.
04 / ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE
You don’t need to arrive knowing how to pose.
Think of the session as a little time together, with photographs along the way. We can make room for the whole family, siblings, each parent with the children and the smaller moments in between.
Before we meet
Tell me who is coming, your children’s ages and any photograph you would particularly love. Mention mobility needs, shyness or anything that helps your family feel comfortable.
Bring the little essentials
Water, a small snack, wipes and a comfort toy are useful. Keep bags light so moving between nearby viewpoints stays easy.
Let children be themselves
A cuddle, a serious expression or a shared joke can matter as much as a smile at the camera. Leave space for breaks and a few spontaneous moments.
05 / PLAN YOUR BUDGET
How much does a family photoshoot in London cost?
My family photography starts at £150 per hour.
A one-hour session can work well in one compact area. For a larger family, extra breaks or more than one location, we can discuss a longer session and a personalised quote.
Send me your preferred dates, the number of adults and children, and the setting you have in mind. Before booking, we’ll confirm the session length, what photographs are included, delivery arrangements and any location costs.
A FEW THINGS YOU MAY BE WONDERING
Family photoshoot FAQs
Is one hour enough?
It can be, especially when we stay in one area. Tell me your group size and priorities so we can choose a comfortable amount of time.
Can we photograph Big Ben and Tower Bridge?
Yes, we can discuss a session that allows for both areas, with time for travelling between them. For a short shoot, choosing one area leaves more time for photographs.
What if my child is shy or doesn’t want to smile?
There is no need to make a perfect smile the goal. Time to settle, a walk with a parent and a little space can lead to photographs that feel more natural. Let me know any concerns when we plan.
Can grandparents join us?
Please include them in your enquiry. Knowing who is coming helps us plan the group photographs, walking distances and session length.
What happens if rain is forecast?
We’ll discuss weather arrangements before you confirm your booking. Options depend on the conditions and location, so please agree any indoor alternative in advance.
Can we have our photos taken in a park?
We can explore a suitable green setting. Professional photography rules vary by location, so permissions and any charges need to be checked before we agree the shoot.
